Kage
Shadow given form—the Kage Katana stands out as a tribute to Japanese craftsmanship and subtle aesthetics. Our team meticulously modeled this iconic blade with a focus on moody elegance and strong silhouette, capturing both its martial legacy and artistic refinement.
The design draws on the concept of “kage” (shadow), represented through an all-black motif on the blade and fittings. Every element, from the iron tsuba’s clouded moon motif to the black lacquered saya and ray skin handle, tells a story of subtle power and restraint. We paid particular attention to the finely contoured edge, the layering of the tsuka-ito, and the interplay of matte and glossy surfaces.
Rendered in Unreal Engine, the katana comes alive with atmospheric lighting and environmental details that honor the duality of light and shadow—hallmarks of Wabi Sabi philosophy. This model embodies not only functional beauty but also the poetic depths found in classic samurai weapons.
At Ninth Spark Interactive, we believe every artifact—whether tool or weapon—should embody both authenticity and artistry. The Kage Katana is part of our ongoing exploration into traditional crafts brought into the digital world, blending cultural legacy with modern 3D artistry.
